Tootle-oo 2022!

Big snow of Dec 20

Snowed in so a good time to wrap up the year. It’s a year in which people were trying to get back to pre-Covid times, but it isn’t over yet. 450 people are still dying everyday in the U.S. and the trend is going up again this winter. Masks are again recommended. I, myself, had Covid for a couple weeks this September even though I was vaxxed and boosted.

But little by little life started back to “normal”. Several Book Club meetings were in person. The County Fair returned. I got on an airplane and went to Palm Springs. We had our first in-person basketry workshop since lockdown. And people started visiting each other again.

Sadly the year ends with the death of my brother-in-law, Bill Yake. Such a good guy. I was privileged to spend his last few days with him. https://funeralalternatives.org/tribute/details/305570/William-Yake/obituary.html#tribute-start

Year Highlights: The aforementioned trip to Palm Springs with its side trip to Joshua Tree. And two road triops with friends–in April Francie and I travelled around Eastern Washington, visiting relatives and iconic attractions such as Dry Falls and the Grand Coulee Dam. In Spetember, Nancy and I drove to Montana to visit Linda and Tom in Livingston, stopping in Idaho to visit my cousin and see Craters of the Moon National Monument.

Home Improvements: New Washing machine, New Range Hood, Carriage Doors for the basement. And decking, rails, and stairs for the mostly completed cottage addition.

Community: I hosted a willow basket workshop in June with Maria Bullock from Orcas Island on the Grange deck. I participated in the “Trashion Fashion” show during the County Fair. Rosalie won the poster contest this year, with her entry for Fair theme “Two Little Ducks, Quack, Quack”. Transition San Juan Waste Reduction Team took up more of my time, especially with our “Plastic Free July” involvement.

Family and Friends: Many nice visits both to and from Thornbush. Emily’s wedding in August led to an Ellison reunion of sorts as well. Bjorn’s family for a week and “the gang” returning in July. A fun Halloween themed gathering at Diane and Craig’s. These are but a few . . .

Roger and Maggie Mae: My saving graces
